How to stop the power button from ending calls on the iPhone and three ways to silence them

If you are a beginner and new to using the iPhone, you may encounter some annoying things while using it. One of these things that may bother some people is the power button. By default, when you press it, the ongoing call ends, whether this was done intentionally or accidentally, and the latter is the most common, especially after moving the button to the side of the iPhone where your hand grips. The good thing is that Apple provided a solution to this problem in an update iOS 16 And newer versions, and we will also mention another solution regarding older updates iOS 15 and earlier. You can stop the power button from suddenly ending calls on your iPhone, and here's how.

From iPhoneIslam.com, A person holds a silver iPhone sideways in a crowded place; Other smartphones are displayed on stands in the background.

Stopping the power button from ending calls may be important

Using the power button to end calls may be important for some users, because it is easier and faster to end the call. Of course, it is directly under his finger, so as soon as the call ends, he will press his finger on the button and the matter is over.

However, this may result in some unintended mistakes being made by pressing the power button during the call and then ending it, which puts the owner in an embarrassing situation. If this happens to you frequently, we recommend stopping the call ending function on the power button, and here are the steps to do that.

How to stop the power button from ending calls on iPhone

◉ First, iPhone devices running iOS 16 or later.

◉ Go to Settings, then scroll down and click on Accessibility.

From iPhoneIslam.com, a screenshot of the iPhone's settings menu, with the Accessibility option highlighted by a red box. The time displayed is 5:52, and the battery is almost full.

◉ Click on Touch.

◉ Then scroll down and activate the “Prevent Lock to End Call” option. It should turn green.

From iPhoneIslam.com, a screenshot of iOS Accessibility settings, specifically the Touch section. The “Prevent Lock to End Call” option has been activated, which prevents the power button from ending calls on the iPhone.

Disable the power button to end calls on iOS 15 and earlier

On older iPhones updated to iOS 15 and earlier, the setting is known as “Lock to End Call” and it works exactly the opposite. To prevent the iPhone from hanging up during a call, you must disable the option as shown below:

◉ Go to Settings, then Accessibility.

◉ Scroll down and choose “Touch.”

From iPhoneIslam.com, a screenshot of the iPhone's Accessibility Touch settings, showing various options such as “Tap to wake,” “Shake to undo,” “Vibrate,” “Power button for call sounds,” and “Back tap.” Each option is accompanied by a toggle switch.

That's it. Pressing the side button will not end the call on iPhone. Instead, the iPhone will lock or silence the ringer if there is an incoming call.

◉ To end the current call or reject an incoming call through the buttons, you can press the volume button in addition to the power button.

To silence the call on the iPhone without rejecting it

From iPhoneIslam.com, A hand holding an iPhone shows an incoming call from “Ritik” with options to reject, remind me, message, and accept. The screen displays a red arrow pointing upward with the text “Swipe up.” For quick control, you can also use the power button to quickly end calls.

◉ Press the side button, it will work when the button is disabled, as we mentioned about ending calls.

◉ Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to minimize and silence the incoming call screen.

◉ Press one of the volume buttons while ringing.

Through these simple steps, you can choose how the power button works during a phone call. But please also note that enabling this option will also disable the ability to reject incoming calls by double-clicking the power button.

Do you end incoming calls using the power button on the iPhone? Did this cause a problem for you? Tell us in the comments.

There is a problem with the Hijri calendar date on the lock screen, it appears 1 Dhu al-Qa’dah, and when I enter the performance in the application, I find that the date is correct 2 Dhu al-Qa’dah. I go back to the lock screen and say it is 1 Dhu al-Qa’dah.
